Peregrine Field Gear is proud to introduce Version 2.0 of the Trekker Dog Handler's Vest. We've incorporated our many years of upland hunting experience and the comments and suggestions of numerous other avid hunters and dog handlers to bring you this premium upland hunting vest. We also ran this vest through extensive field testing with numerous hard core hunters to make sure it would stand up to the challenges of upland hunting.

    New Updates for 2018 include:

    • Lighter weight, yet rugged water repellent fabric with ballistic-grade nylon thread
    • Ergonomic shell pockets with magnetic flaps
    • Removable, closed-bottom neoprene shell loops (12, 20 or 28 ga)
    • Integrated waist belt to support game pouch
    • 1-way brass YKK zipper

First and foremost, we designed this vest so that those large roosters can actually be loaded from the front quickly and easily! The front opening of the game pouch has a snap expansion that provides a huge 14+" opening for loading big birds.

Second, this vest was designed with the dog handler in mind. The Velcro transmitter pockets on the chest lay flat when empty, but expand to accommodate virtually every make and model of e-collar transmitter. The elastic restrainer loop is easily secured around the antenna of larger remotes to prevent them from falling out when you bend over. The mesh front on the pockets provides easier identification of transmitter buttons and D-rings next to the pockets provide attachment points for lanyards. In addition, two reinforced water bottle holders (with drain holes) means that you can carry enough water for you and your four legged friend.

Third, the "Trekker" upland vest gets its name because in addition to the dual water bottle holders, it also has a rear rucksack for carrying your first aid kit or your lunch, or for stowing those extra layers later in the day when things are warming up.

Fourth, like all shooting apparel that we produce, the Trekker vest has an inside pocket under each shooting pad that accepts the revolutionary ShockEater® recoil pad. So, now you can use those heavy high brass loads and not worry about bruising your shoulder in the process.

And if that's not enough, we also engineered in some other great features including magnetic pocket flaps, a zippered bottom on the shell pockets (for easy emptying and clean out), hand warmer pockets, internal accessories pockets, expandable rear game pouch and a zippered game pouch.

Finally, as with all products made by Peregrine Outdoor Products, this vest comes with a "no questions asked" Lifetime Guarantee. So enjoy those long hikes through fields, briars, fence rows and thickets knowing that Peregrine has your back. Happy hunting.

Note: Vest chest measurements are intentionally larger than normal to accommodate cold weather clothing.

    Best Vest Ever

I just purchased this vest after using my old one for almost 20 years. What a difference. I just got back from 4 days in North Dakota and the the vest was everything advertised. Very comfortable and carries a load well due to the belt. Access to everything is excellent and the water bottle holders are a winner! I like the transmitter compartments on the vest but they don't work for me with the transmitters. Too difficult to find the right buttons through the material. The D-hooks work great though and I hang my transmitter from them. I have been around a while and I expect this will be the last vest I need to buy.

    Excellent quality, good design

After 2 days of hunting, I like the way it handles weight. With 4 pheasants and a quail in the vest, the belt system kept the weight off my shoulders, not degrading my gun mount. Good pocket positioning, easy to slide game in and out of. The magnetic flap closures hold tight. Water bottle pockets work, you can place and remove a bottle smoothley with one hand. The zippers on the bottom of the shell pockets stayed closed, a nice feature and never an issue. Found I fumbled a bit when loading the shell holders, especially in the end slots, and that was with 20Ga. Overall, it's a good solid vest, that's well made and should last a decade or more with heavy use.

    Quality and superb vest

This vest is everything any upland hunter will need and more. A dog handlers must have. Fit and finish is amazing. The lifetime warranty, no questions asked, is unheard of in upland attire. Each pocket, flap, e-collar holder, and rucksack are well thought out. They function as designed. I'm over 60 and wish I had one of these 40 years ago!

I can tell, this will be the last vest I will have to purchase.

    Upland Vest

Just received my dog trekker vest. I haven’t used it yet in the field so will write a review again once I’ve used it but am extremely impressed so far. It was clearly designed by people who know hunting. Great features including easy to access water bottles and game bag. Also, I was worried about the weight of the vest but it is light so seems they fixed that. Lastly, the customer service was outstanding. I typically wear a large vest. I called to inquire on size and they told me how to measure my current vest and send them those specs so the could suggest a size. What I got delivered was spot on from a size perspective! You won’t find that level of customer service from a big box retailer.

Exactly the upland vest I was looking for!

This vest is actually better than I thought it would be in terms of construction and the design is superb. Great game bag. Pockets are well thought out, including e-collar transmitter and GPS pockets. I love the built in ruck sack. I am 6' 1", 215 lbs and I ordered the XL, which leaves enough room to put a jacket or some layers under it for cold weather. I am very happy with this vest because the design and construction don't require me to compromise on any of the features I want from an upland vest, like so many other vests do.
